Hi There,

Ian McFarland is a Berklee College of Music alumnus and Brooklyn-based performer originally from Portsmouth, NH, who continues to captivate indie punk audiences with his dynamic energy, vibrant sound, and engaging stage presence. Since the pandemic, he has performed consistently around the NYC metropolitan area, holding residencies at the Book Club Bar in the Lower East Side and developing a unique live karaoke band residency at Baker Falls.

McFarland’s music is gaining traction with the help of Twin Vision Radio Promotion, earning support from notable stations like KEXP, KCRW, WODU, WERU, WLFR, and many more across the US and internationally. His previous releases have received editorial attention from Spotify’s “Today’s Punk” and “All New Punk,” as well as Apple’s “INDIY,” “New Alternative,” “New Rock,” and “New Punk.”

His recent single, “Irish Goodbye,” was picked up by over 20 stations including KEXP, KCRW, and WPKN. Written and recorded in Brooklyn, NY, the track showcases his knack for vivid lyrical imagery paired with walls of guitar, bass, and drums reminiscent of alt-rock greats. Collaborating with fellow Berklee alumni Ryan Melone (engineering, drums) and Max Grazier (mastering), the song delivers a polished yet raw sound.

Continuing his creative evolution, McFarland released “Loser,” an angsty yet catchy track filled with slide guitar work and a punk edge that feels both nostalgic and fresh.

The upcoming release, You Are So Loved, is a ten-song project that includes the track “Beautiful Life.” The song radiates positivity and romance, delivered with energetic, uplifting instrumentals and lush vocal harmonies performed by Ian and Lizzie, the wife of drummer Jared. The title track’s philosophical lyrics, inspired by Burt Bacharach’s phrase “what the world needs,” reflect McFarland’s desire to create feel-good music that offers comfort and hope.

McFarland describes the project as a personal journey of transforming low moments into something beautiful and uplifting. “You Are So Loved” features a distinctive calliope introduction that immediately grabs attention, leading into a powerful, anthemic sound that blends indie textures with pop-punk rhythms.

He continues to build his audience through consistent streaming, radio play, and live performances. The release of “You Are So Loved” will be celebrated with a party the night before at Pete’s Candy Store, followed by the music video drops for “You Are So Loved” and “Vampire Weekday”.
